How to pay Pakistani contractors

The practical options for paying engineers in Pakistan reliably, compliantly, and in USD.

The main options

  • Direct bank transfer (SWIFT) — reliable but slower and with wire fees.
  • Payoneer / Wise — popular with Pakistani freelancers; fast and low-fee.
  • Contractor platforms (Deel, Remote) — handle contracts + compliance for a per-seat fee.
  • A managed partner (Edenic) — you pay one invoice; we handle local payroll and payments.

What a good contract needs

  • Clear scope and deliverables or an hourly/monthly rate.
  • IP assignment — work product belongs to you.
  • Confidentiality / NDA.
  • Termination terms and notice period.

Compliance basics

Contractors handle their own local taxes; you don't withhold. Keep a signed agreement and invoices for your records. If someone works full-time, long-term, and exclusively for you, understand the employee-vs-contractor distinction — see that guide.

The simplest path

If you don't want to manage platforms, wires, and contracts yourself, a managed partner consolidates it into one monthly invoice and takes on the local payroll operation entirely.
